Updating for the end of the year, 2008

Hi all, I haven't updated in so long, I'll be lucky if any of you look at this again. So months have gone by and my babies just keep getting bigger and stronger, and much more mobile...Carter is very close to walking on his own, he walks holding on to anything. Abbi is crawling good now, and standing up on her own, then falling down and finds it funny. She is starting to walk with help..Austin is talking so much better all the time. On the phone it's still hard to understand him sometimes, but in person he is very understandable. He is just growing up, mentally that is, he is still so tiny and petite for a boy. We hope Abbi ends up that way, for she is a chunky now..hee hee...I got to spend all of Oct. with Amy and Bryan and the kids, then the last week, included Halloween and Carter's birthday out in Calif. at Grant and Ash's house for a good week..Amy and kids went with me and Bryan flew in later. Hectic household, but wonderful..I love the early mornings when babies get up and I can go get them out of bed, course Austin walks out himself, and then we all play together while their lazy moms take advantage of grammy being there to do it..ha ha ha..I love it.
This is the end of Thanksgiving weekend, and Lynn and I drove up to Kansas to spend the holiday with his family. Sister and family, and mom and dad. Dad is good, but has no get-up-and-go. Poor appetite, and sleeps alot, but still no pain...Thank you Lord...We had a wonderful weekend together.
Now I just wait for the kids. I will fly out on Dec. 11th and drive back here with Amy and babies...then Grant and Ash fly in on Dec. 20th..we will all go up to Kansas for Christmas too, and Bryan will fly in on Xmas eve...so we will all be together with Lynn's family this year. Dad is really excited about that. We all are. Then kids will come back down to Tx. with us, and spend thru the new year here. Yeah for me!!!! Those babies change so fast, in 2 weeks, they will be doing something else new. Well, I won't update again till after the new year...So Blessed Christmas to everyone, and enjoy the few pic's that I added....Happy New Year...

Been a Long Time....

Hi to all of you that take the time to look at my blog...I am sorry I haven't put anything new on it since August, but, when we are not around these precious babies, or don't really have any new news..guess I just don't think about it.
Right now I am out in Phoenix with two of my babies, and the last weekend of this month we all will be with Grant and Ash over in Calif. So after that time I will have lots of updated pic's to share and stories...
Dad Gourley is doing ok.. He had some of those kemo beads inserted into the tumor in his liver, and the results of that weren't that good. Plus they have found 2 more tumors...so that's 4 now. And of course, that's not good. But he continues to go as much as his strength will let him, he is Not in Pain...that's wonderful, he just has no energy, and has to rest alot. He has lost down to 160 lbs now, so no clothes fit, but, he still looks good. We all are going to be together for Christmas this year...God willing, he will be strong enough to enjoy every minute with all his family...These Great Grandbabies are such a joy to him....Mom and Dad were able to fly out to Calif. and over to Phoenix back in Aug. to spend 10 days between Grant's house and Amy's...They had a wonderful time. And if you look at Amy's blog, she has pictures of Austin putting stickers all over his Pa......and you know Pa loved every minute of it.
Well, soon I will update this blog with lots of new stuff, stay tuned....Love to all that share my blog with me....LeAnn

FANTASTIC NEWS

I just spent the last 5 days with mom and dad G. in Melvern Ks. I drove up there on Monday the 11th, because Tuesday morning dad had an appointment to have that biopsy done that 2 other doctors told him no to, anyway, the Doctor successfully did the biopsy, and the results are Negative!! No cancer in the lymph nodes in the chest wall. So now they are thinking of treating the liver cancer with nuclear beads. But first, mom and dad are flying out to Grant's house Aug. 28th staying till the 1st of Sept. then Grant will drive them half way to Amy's house in Phx. and Amy will drive 1/2 way too, to pick them up, then they will stay till the 5th. So Great Grandma and Pa get to see those babies soon. This procedure set him back a bit, but, I believe he will feel better soon.
Keep the prayers coming....

Pictures from California, July 21st-Aug. 5th

So I am sharing these pictures from my time at Grant's.
Full story down below.....

I am home from Grant's house..

I just returned from Calif. being at Grant and Ash's house. I went out there to help with Carter while they were at the festivities for Ash's sister's wedding. But I also got to keep Carter all two weeks, instead of sending him to the babysitter...I loved it. He is a handful thou. He started crawling and pulling up to standing the first week I was there. Needless to say, it was time to babyproof the house. Life as they know it, is not only gone, it will never be the same..ha ha
I flew in and my dear friend Pam picked me up and she was able to stay a couple days with me over at Grant's...then mom came in for about a week, and the end of the first week, Amy, Austin and Abbi drove over, and stayed the rest of the time with us. The last weekend, Bryan flew in, we picked him up at the airport and drove to the beach area and we spent the weekend all together at Cara's house. Tad and Carleen, Jeff, Jena, we all had a little family reunion which was so much fun...Cara and Aron are such great host...Taryn is away at San Francisco, summer school, and Lynn was not able to join us, but other wise it was great...Mom left before we went to Cara's....These are a few pic's that I wanted to share, and I will add a couple more....
Today is my birthday......I certainly don't feel 55!!!! and tomorrow is Amy's birthday...She certainly doesn't look 33!!!
Tomorrow I am driving up to Kansas, to spend the week with mom and dad G. Dad's biopsy is Tues. Wanted to be there for that, and just spend a little time with them..Maybe even do some chores that they can't do or need help doing...guess I better take my FARM clothes..ha ha
Ya'll take care.........

My trip is over

Hi everyone, I am back from my trip to Grant's house. I went out there to help with Carter, while Ashleigh's sister got married. But, I got to keep him everyday. How fun for me, althou I have to say, he is a handful. He started crawling while I was there, also pulling himself up to standing...and you should see him in his jumper, talk about a mad man, he is jumping up and down so fast it's hysterical. My friend Pam was able to get me from the airport, and stay with me a couple days, then Mom came over from Thur. thru Mon. and on that Fri. night, Amy and Austin and Abbi drove over, and they stayed the rest of the time that I was there. The last weekend, Bryan flew in, we picked him up at the airport, and we drove down to the beach, and spent the weekend with cousin Cara, she lived close to Huntington Beach, and Tad and Carleen came over both days, and Jeff and Jena came too, so it was a great little family reunion. Taryn is in San Fran. at college summer school, and Lynn didn't get to go at all...Poor PaPa....

Having all the kids together for 9 days was wonderful, even thou it was hectic at times...Carter was use to sleeping thru the night, well he decided not to while we were there, and Abbi, who never cries, was pretty fussy at times, and Amy wasn't use to that. And my little man Austin, as perfect as he is, in Grammy's eyes, well lets just say, he can be a pill too...ha

But, I was in Baby Heaven thats for sure. I forgot my camera, but we took gobs on Amy's and Ashleigh's camera, so I am waiting to get a CD from Ash, then I will have some pic's...Amy sent me her Snapfish, so I downloaded a few, so here are a couple of my favorites....

Tomorrow, Aug. 11th, Amy's birthday, by the way, mine is today!!!!! I am not old!!!!! Anyway, I am driving up to Kansas for the week, spending time with mom and dad G. Dad's biopsy is Tues. and I want to be there, plus, just to spend some time with them, helping get done a few things that maybe they can't do alone....we'll see.

So...hope you enjoy my few pic's.....

Hi Everyone,  Just a quick update, on all us Gourley's....
Dad had his second opinion at KU Med Center, and they said they would do a biopsy on his lymph nodes in the chest wall, going down thru the esophagus, and that was scheduled for yesterday, and as they went in, they found, as the first doctor did in the MRI, that he has vericose vains in his esophagus, and if they were to puncture one of them, he would bleed to death before they could stop it, so they stopped the procedure...they will analize anything they do have, and let us know...So, that can't be done either.  Dad is sick with a cold right now, and sounds terrible, and has lost 5 more lbs...We don't like that at all.   I plan on booking them a plane ticket real soon for Phoenix and Calif. so they can come see these babies.......
And speaking of babies, I am so far in baby heaven...I am with Grant and Ashleigh, babysitting Carter.  I got in on Monday, this is Thurs. and my best friend from High School picked me up and has been with me till yesterday afternoon.  So then today, my mother comes in to stay for a week, and on Saturday Amy and my other two babies will be here.......Talk about baby heaven!!!!   This here is my precious Carter for now....
Thanks for keeping up with me...

Great Pa and his First Great Grandbaby, Austin..... A couple favorites....

This one here is two years ago, when Austin didn't even walk yet, but Pa and him could be cowboys together.... Pa is pretty darn proud!! This one here, has got to be one of my favorites, Great Pa and Austin just hanging out in Melvern, Ks. eating a bag of chips...Summer o7

Where else than in Melvern, Ks. can Austin ride in this truck without a carseat......just like mommy, Aunt Lisa and Uncle Grant use to do...Megan and Justin too, when they came to visit. Summer 07

July 4th, 2008 Weekend in Melvern, Ks.

Wayne Gourley, 70 yrs old. Dad Gourley soon to be 80 yrs. old...Glenda, Lynn's sister, Mom Gourley, and her sister Joy. Party on the 4th of July, 2008

Dad and Lynn downtown Melvern, at dad's 80th party and Wayne's 70th birthday party on the 4th of July.

Two hoodlums on the farm in Melvern, looking like real cowboys...
Daddy and daughter, Glenda, dancing at the party on the 4th of July. Very emotional....
Pa and Ruthies grandbaby, checking eachother out.....Dad is crazy about those babies..
Pa and Lisa dancing at the party...Little blurred, but the disco lights were on....

Our Gourley Family has received some very bad news. Dad has been having lots of test done, and they have found Liver Cancer. Lynn and I drove up to Kansas last week to go to the Onocologist appt. with them, and also Glenda drove over from Marysville, and we all went in the office to hear what the doctor had to say. Besides the liver cancer, there are some other things that come into play, that he said there was no treatment that would really help. Mom and Dad are going to K.U. Med. Center for a second opinion next week, to see if they know of any treatment that will help. The good news is, dad is not in any pain for now, he has lost down to 173 lbs, so that makes him weak, but he is still able to come and go with naps in between like he has always done. So they have decided to go and do somethings that they have been wanting to do, and #1 priority is to go see those great grandbabies. I know, later, when dad gets weaker, my kids will go to Melvern with those babies so they can see "Pa" more. Dad will be 80 next month, and like he says, he has had a great life. For the past 34 years, I have had the most wonderful pleasure of being his daughter in law, #1 he calls me, but I am the only one also...hee,hee... He has been my other daddy and how blessed I have been to have him in my life. He was blessed with 5 grandkids, and so far has 3 great grandbabies, and if you thought he was crazy about those grandkids, you should see him with these great grandbabies...They have their pictures at the eating bar, and talk to their pictures every day.
We hope and pray that we have dad a long time from now, but only our Lord knows when the time will be. The pictures up above are the ones that I took last weekend while we were home seeing them, and there was a party on July 4th, for dad's nephew Wayne, turning 70 and dad turning 80....plus working in the horse and mule pen. Such cowboys... For those of you who have had the honor of knowing Joe Gourley, you know what a kind and wonderful man he is. We just ask for prayers that our Lord will let us keep him with us for many more years...

Pa Gourley

This is such a precious picture. Sharing a bag of chips, just hanging out in Melvern
Austins first ride without a carseat. Where but in Melvern could that happen.....
Austin was pretty young here, but Pa and him were cowboys together....
